  • What type of transcription services do you provide?
    • We can transcribe any type of identifiable speech from almost any type of sound file, including digital files or analogue tapes. Digital sound files are preferred as they provide superior sound quality. Digital sound files can be uploaded directly to our secure website while analogue tapes can be mailed or delivered in person.

      We transcribe court hearings, tribunals, records of interview, police records of interview, conferences, depositions, meetings, teleconferences, statements, and focus groups. If there is speech involved, we can transcribe it.

  • Can you dub sound from tapes to digital?
    • Yes. We charge a basic fee for dubbing from analogue to digital based on the sound quality of the tapes provided.

  • How do I know I will receive the most accurate transcript?

      Legal Transcripts only hires typists with proven experience and capability as we understand that 100% accuracy is of utmost importance to our clients. Providing quality transcripts in a timely manner is paramount to the continued success and growth of our company.

  • Do you transcribe for overseas companies or in foreign languages?
    • In general we do not transcribe foreign languages, however we are able to transcribe a matter in the English language if an interpreter is present.

  • Are you able to provide transcript on the same day this recording is taking place?
    • Yes we can.

  • Do you transcribe depositions for both Australia and overseas?
    • Yes, we have ample experience in this area. Please contact us with your needs.

  • What does a transcript cost?
    • Our charges vary according to individual needs such as project length, turnaround time required and quality of sound. We will provide a detailed quote up front of what you can expect to be charged before your project is confirmed.

      We require a minimum 24 hours notice for cancellation of a booking for a recording monitor. Failure to notify our office within the required time will result in a cancellation fee.

      Our prices are extremely competitive in the marketplace.

  • Do you require a deposit for any transcript or recording requests?
    • For established clients we do not require a deposit.

      However, we generally require a deposit for all transcription or recording work unless otherwise organised with the Office Manager. The deposit required is 100% of the estimated cost of the project.

      Our quote will be based on the estimated length of time of the job and the resulting number of transcribed pages. Please note that estimate is calculated on our experience however it is impossible to estimate with 100% accuracy as to how much speech will be involved until the job is complete.

  • How do I order a transcript or recording monitor?
    • For Transcript – Digital:
      Sound files can be uploaded to our secure website using our secure upload facility. To request access to this feature please contact us.
      We can transcribe from most digital formats but please contact our office with any queries on this matter.

      For Recording Monitor:
      Please email us stating your requirements: (e.g. Date your matter will take place, times, venue and contact person and contact details). We will then be in touch with regards to your needs such as equipment requirements. A visit to your premises by our staff may be required in order to establish the exact setup required.

  • What turnaround times do you provide?
    • We currently provide the following delivery methods however we are more than happy to discuss your requirements. Please contact us by free call on 1800 534 258 and we will discuss your needs directly.

      We provide our clients with the following delivery methods:

      • Same day delivery
      • Next day delivery
      • Three (3) working days or more
      • Urgent turnaround

  • What methods of payment do you accept?
    • Payment can be made via credit card (Visa, MasterCard & American Express only), cheque, money order or direct deposit. Payment can be made over the phone or via our secure online payment system.

  • When do I have to pay?
    • If you hold an account with us we will provide you with an invoice via email within five (5) working days. Payment is required within seven (7) working days or as per your arrangements with us.

      If you do not hold an account with us, a deposit is required when booking the job and the balance of payment is due upon collection of your transcript. We will deduct your deposit from the amount or refund you any outstanding balance that may be due to you. A surcharge may be applicable for payments made by credit card.

  • What if I am not happy with my transcript?
    • Please contact us directly and we will attend to your complaint immediately.

  • What format audio can you transcribe?
    • We can transcribe from any industry standard audio or video format for example MP3, WMA, WAV, OGG, AVI, DVD etc. If you have a non standard audio format i.e. a proprietary format please feel free to contact us and we can discuss possible options.

  • What are SSL Certificates?
    • An SSL Certificate is a digital computer file (or small piece of code) that has 2 specific functions.

      Authentication and Verification:
      The SSL Certificate has information about the authenticity of certain details regarding the identity of a person, business or website, which is displayed to visitors on the website when they click on the lock or trust mark.

      Encryption:
      The SSL Certificate also enables encryption, which means that the information exchanged via the website cannot be intercepted or read by anyone other than the person for whom it is intended.

  • What browsers should I use to view this website?
    • We recommend that you always use the latest version of any browser that you use the most as there are many security vunerabilities associated with out of date browsers. This site has been designed and tested to work on the latest versions of Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Opera, Internet Explorer (Edge), Safari.

  • Page not displaying correctly?
    • This site is built using the latest in Javascript and CSS technologies and browsers such as Internet Explorer 8 can't interpret this. If the site is not functioning or displaying correctly, please ensure you are using the latest version of your browser and that you have javascript enabled. Whilst the site has been tested on browsers without javascript enabled, some behaviour variations may occur.

  • How do I upload audio files?
    • You will firstly need to request access to our Audio Upload facility (LT Vault) by contacting us and requesting access.

      Once you have received your username and password, simply follow the 3 easy steps as indicated. If you have any difficulties accessing the feature then please contact us and we will be more than happy to help you.

  • Problems uploading your file?
    • In a perfect world, nothing should ever go wrong whilst using our Audio Upload facility however we all know that things don't always go according to plan.
